What is a Press Release

A press release, also known as a news release is a brief, compelling news story directed at targeted members of the news media. The announcement should be news of interest to the public and not a cloaked advertisement for a company, product or individual. A well written press release will contain the essential information: who, what, when, where, how, and why. A journalist should be able to write a story with the information garnered directly from the press releases.
